Are You A Christian? Do You Pray and Read the Bible?

Do you pray?

I do. The Bible says we should pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). I’ve been taught that it means that we should pray as often as we have opportunity.

How is your prayer life? Mine isn’t nearly where it should be. But I pray here, there and everywhere. How would you size up your prayer life?

Do you pray for your friends, your relatives, your leaders, your sins? Do you praise the Lord?

Do you worship?
What songs on Sunday really touch your heart? I don’t have a good singing voice. I kind of blend in. But it’s not my voice God wants. It’s my honesty, my focus, and my sincerity. It’s tough not to get distracted. Do you ever close your eyes and sing? Do you ever cry? Do you ever open your mouth and nothing comes out because you’re just too choked up? Do you just get lost in the music?

Do you ever worship without a single note? Do you simply stand in awe of our Lord? Do you just give Him His due? Do you think of Him and His majesty? Do you look at nature and praise Him?

What Christian bands or singers are your favorites? If someone looked at your iTunes playlists, what would they see? What would they hear? I have nothing against secular music; some of it is outstanding (I own my share). And some Christian music is awful. It’s natural for passionate followers of Christ to discover worship music that encourages and inspires them.

How would you describe your worship? How does your life reflect your worship? How do you put Him first and not some empty idol like a TV show?

Do you read the Bible?
Are you on one of those one-year Bible reading plans? Are you exploring a particular topic? Do you search the Internet or other resources to find different perspectives on your questions?

Lately, I’ve been studying what happens to us when we die — Bible verses and commentaries about going to heaven as disembodied spirits and resurrected bodies in a new heaven and a new earth.

When do you read the Bible? If you go a day without His Word, does it bother you?

When is the last time you picked up your Bible? Do you read it on a Kindle? Do you listen to the Word in your car? What’s your favorite verse? If you have too many, can you easily recall some of them? Do you memorize Scripture?

Are you in a men’s, women’s or teen group that’s diving deep into the Bible? In our small group, we tackled Mark then James and just wrapped up Hebrews.

How much do you cherish the Word of God? Does Psalm 119 resonate with you?
